How to change universe in a webi 4.0

Hi,

For already created webi report, i would like to change the universe to a new one.

How could we do it in WebI4.0. This could be done in BOXI 3.1.

But could find any option in WebI4.0

Hi Priya,

Changing the source of report from one universe to other universe is same process in both 3.1 and 4.0.

But looks your question is not clear...

Are you already upgraded report from 3.1 to 4.0 and want to change the source(universe) of upgraded report with other universe?

"For Already created webi report...." what does it mean?

You created webi report in 4.0 using universe and want to change the source(universe) with another universe?? If Yes, Open webi report - Clickk on Data acces Tab - Click on Tools tab - Click on change Source - Click on select a data source -  select new universe - click on next - click on Finish

If you already upgraded 3.1 reports to 4.0, you can still use all your 3.1 universe (.unv) in 4.0 without converting to (.unx).

You can also convert 3.1 universe (.unv) to .unx universe with IDT then you can use new version of universes..

Hi,

You can go to report properties, there you can see the Universe name. Click on it (...) then browse your new datasource... follow the few steps then finish... Thats it..You are done..... 🙂

Hi Reddy,

I have created a WEBI report on Unverse and now I want to change the data source from Universe to Excel ..

I have followed the above steps and selected MS Excel, but when I selected my excel file and connect, it is showing connectivity error ..

can u pls let me know is there any other setting I have to do to change the data source to Excel.

Hi Priya,

First thanks for your time in advance. I know it's valuable!

I found this thread and was able to work through the process you proposed for changing the data source but when I told it to change sources I got an error.

The error was:  A class already exists with this name:". (IES 10709) (WIS 10709). Then I click close to the error box and the box Change Source Wizard opens. Normally it would show the mappings of one object to the mate but the entire box is completely empty.

Background. We recently went from 3.1 to 4.1 sp3. Now we're hosted so we didn't do the actual work but I'm assuming that all of the universes unverted ok. The problem started when I went to run a report based on this universe. I was getting errors such as:

Some objects are no longer available in the universe (WIS 00001)

and

The current query contains unresolveable objects.

and

An internal error occurred while calling 'processDPCommandsEx' API (Error: ERR_WIS_30270) (WIS 30270).

I've found that there are two different universes with the same name but in two differnt folders. They both have different cuid(s). I'm not sure with which universe this report is actually supposed to be mated with. Is there a way to find this out?

I  have a document of what I've done step by step, including the error message at specific stages of my process but I don't see any place to attach/upload documents.

For some reason, I am not able to see the Tools tab in WEBi through Launch Pad. Is there a CMC setting that I need to check to have it available?

It happened to me too. The solution was an upgrade of IE9 to IE11.
