HI experts,
I am confused with the terms bill of materials and variant configuration.can anyone explain me the diffrence between the two terminology and to which specific module they belong.i will be very thank full If somebody can reply as soon as possible.
Bill of Material
This is applicable in MM / PP / SD
Variant Configuration
This is applicable in PP / SD

Bill of material is nothing but different components that together create a product:
EX:computer( CPU, monitor, keyboard,mouse, plugs, etc...).where when customer place an order he just mention the main product computer but he receive all the sub items in it.
it is used by MM/SD/PP
variant configuration is nothing but, company manufacture a standard product which can be modified(or adding value) according to the customer need.
Ex: honda city
variants (color, engine capacity, seats,wheels, steering,etc....)
it is used by SD/PP
