Dear Experts,
My scenario is as below.
Approver A clicks on Approve button, he should get a popup window "Approval Comments". Right now it is coming as a separate workitem in the portal inbox.
Note: In ECC R3, the scenario is working fine, On approving or rejecting the parked document, "Enter comments" box is appearing immediately after action happened.
Regards,
Pavan.
Hi,
This is due to "Advance in Dialog" check which you have in your step...
This won't work in Portal(UWL) because this functionality is not available there...

You must be a registered user to add a comment. If you've already registered, sign in. Otherwise, register and sign in.
As far as I remember at least few years ago SAP didn't have a solution for this. Like mentioned before, the advance with dialog will not work in UWL. The best option would be to try to embed the user comment box to the actual approval screen/application. For example with decision steps this would be easily configurable functionality in UWL.

It really depends on how you approve your parked document? Are you using some SAP transaction/screen to do it? OR are you using a user decision step in workflow to approve the document?
If the case is the second one, please check the post that Rick mentioned above (the one about user decision handler). If it is the first case, then you need to build the pop-up into the approval transaction/screen with ABAP.

Dear Karri!
Thanks for the quick response. On portal, we were not using any t-code or calling any transactional screen for approving or rejecting a parked document. It is just a workitem appears in Manager's inbox like "Please approve or reject the parked document" and Approve and Reject buttons will be provided which are appearing now. But on clicking Approve or Reject button, instead of getting a popup window for entering comments, it is coming as a separate workitem "Collect Approval text" and no option given to enter comments and submit for next approval.
Please assist.
Regards,
Pavan.
OK, it seems that you are using a decision step to approve the document.
You will have a quite big task ahead - especially if you want to continue to use both UWL and business workplace. You should have versions for both cases. Of course if it is somehow possible to use the advance with dialog in option with UWL, then you will not have any problems.
Sorry, but I simply don't have time to investigate/explain what would be the best approach in your case and how to do it...
Regards,
Karri
