Hi Experts,

I have copied this file com.sap.portal.runtime.logon.par.bak and pasted on my desktop.

Changed the name to com.mycompany.portal.runtime.logon.par

I tried to upload the file to NWDS(File --> Import --> Par file) and I am getting the fallowing error.

and when i click OK on above Error

i get this errors : http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/571/error2v.png/

Siva

Dear Siva,

It seems something is missing inside your PAR file.

Have you checked the NWDS log ?

For sure you will see there more details on what is the exact error.

Check that log and see if you can confirm important information there.

Usually there is.

Dear Siva,

regarding the log for NWDS you can check inside your workspace folder (this is where your projects are saved localy).

...workspace\.metadata\.log

Inside this ".log" file you will see the information you're looking for.

If you don't know where is your workspace, you can always go on your NWDS here

Window > Preferences > Workbench > Workspace.

Check info [here|http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/641/workspacek.jpg/]

You can also get access to the log by going to

Help > About NWDS

and then press the "Configuration Details" button.

As for the issues connecting to your EP.

You need to configure your NWDS to point to the EP J2EE server.

Go to

Windows > Preferences > SAP J2EE Engine

and write your J2EE server/port settings

Check more info [here|http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/684/j2ee.jpg/]

Hi Ricardo,

The issue is solved!

Thanks for your helpful replies!

sol: I dont know what the issue was but i was getting an error while importing the file, in spite of error referred above i could find the par file uploaded into NWDS. i know it was with errors, so what i have to do is:

In NWDS, goto our par file uploaded in NWDS

my.company.par/dist you find folders under it (CSS, js, layout, Meta-INF,Portal-inf,scripts, srm), so i deleted all these files in NWDS except scripts folder.

i have unzipped my par file and copied all thos files deleted and pasted them in NWDS --> my.company.par/dist folder

and worked on the modification and it worked!!!

Thanks for your replies

Dear Siva,

that is indeed strange.

Still don't know if this could be an issue with your NWDS or the PAR itself.

So let's do 2 tests

===============================================

TEST NR. 1

Let's try and check the NWDS first by creating a custom PAR.

Don't worry, it's easy.

Just open your NWDS and go to the top menu

File > New > Project

Inside the popup window that will open please choose

Portal Application (on the left) and Create a Portal Application Project (on the right)

Then give any name you would like (no spaces or dots, etc...)

You now have a Portal project created on NWDS ( you will see a folder on the left side with your project name)

Click on that folder with your LEFT mouse button and choose EXPORT

Choose PAR File

Choose your Project

Choose a path where you want your PAR file to be saved. (uncheck the deploy PAR file, but check the include the source code).

And click Finish.

Now delete the project you have created (by clicking on the folder with your LEFT mouse button again, but chose DELETE project)

Now you're ready to re-import the PAR file.

===============================================

TEST NR. 2

Maybe your standard PAR file that you've downloaded doesn't have the source code included or is corrupted.

Please try to open it with a ZIP program and check what type of structure/files you have there.

Have you also checked your NWDS log ?

You could also share here that log, so that I can better help you.

Kindest Regards

Hi Ricardo,

As per your Test NR. 1:

I have created a Custom PAR file and imported it when i unzipped it i got one folder named (PORTAL-INF)

And regarding the Standard PAR File when i have unzipped it i got six files (CSS, JS, LAYOUT, META-INF, PORTAL-INF, SRM)

And regarding NWDS Logs, Where do i find them? actually i just installed the NWDS Tool but did not connect to EP Server.

any inputs on this results, Thanks Inadvance!

Dear Siva,

I would try 2 things:

1) try to upload first the PAR without changing the name, and check if it works ok. You can always change the PAR name afterwards when exporting it.

2) Create a custom PAR application. Export it and then re-import it into NWDS. This is just to confirm that NWDS is ok.

Does this work ? What about if you change the name, will it work as well ?

Hope it helps with the troubleshooting.

Hi Ricardo,

Thanks For your reply,

As per your first point i tried uploading the file without changing the name of the file just by removing the .bak name in it and still the same issue.

And regarding second point, I am New to EP i do not know how to create custom PAR application.

Please help me out!

Siva
