/CRYSTAL/OSQL_EXECUTE Performance Issue

Former Member

Hello Experts,

I have few concerns regarding /CRYSTAL/OSQL_EXECUTE Program.

We have around 30 Crystal Reports (Developed on top of SAP R/3 System) which all are scheduled respectively and there are around 120 Instance are schedule from these reports respective restricted by a single vendor, company code and all.

All instances are scheduled and executed between 8 PM to 10 AM. But the program /CRYSTAL/OSQL_EXECUTE (Which comes with transport files of SAP integration kit) is getting executed around 18 to 19 hrs everyday.

I have few questions on this:

1) What is the Importance of this program?

2) What should be max. time for this program to get executed?

3) In my case, What should be reason to get long time to get executed?

4) What are necessary steps I need to follow to increase performance?

I really appreciate your views on this.

Thanks a lot in advance,

Rishit kamdar

Hi

Are the 18 and 19 hours you state combined processing time? To my knowledge different processes can start the program at the same time.

1) It is important if you are using the Crystal Reports Open SQL driver

2) I would say this depends on your environment

3) I assume the 18 to 19 hours is the sum of all the single executions of /CRYSTAL/OSQL_EXECUTE. How long are your Crystal Reports running? What is the longest running Crystal Report and how long does it take? Are the Crystal Reports configured to abort if they exceed the 8 -10 time window?

4) I would check the longest running Crystal Reports report. is there anything that can be improved in the report design. Is your Business Objects Enterprise system on a recent patch level (including the transport files)?

Regards

Roland
