Crystal XI R2: Export to CSV displays Conditionally suppressed rows

Former Member

Hope someone can help.

We are using Crystal Reports XI and have a report that has conditional suppression on a section.

When previewed the relevant data has been suppressed.

When the report is exported to csv the suppressed rows are appearing as blank lines.

Any ideas?

Export using 'Standard Mode'. Where are you exporting it from ? CR Designer or 'Infoview' ?

Standard mode has the following features:

Lets you control how report/page and group header/footers display in the CSV output.

Respects conditional suppression.

Retains line breaks in the text.

Uses UTF-8 encoding.

I am exporting via Standard Mode in CR Designer.

With Report and Page sections - Export and Isolate ticked

With Group Sections - Export and Isolate ticked

It does not seem to respect the Conditional formatting.

We have tried this in other reports as well with the same problem

Do you have any service packs, fix packs installed?

I just have SP1 on CR XI R2.

I have noticed that the same "feature" is in 2008 SP2.

Thanks

Try installing up to Service Pack 6. Download SP 4 full build, requires an uninstall first. The get up to SP 6.

If it still does the same then I suggest you search her on "Exporting to Excel" and you'll find a PDF file on how to optimize your reports for exporting to Excel.

If it works the same in CR 2008 then likely this is by design and we won't be changing how it works.

Thank you

Interesting to here that you feel this not following the conditional suppression has been added by design.

As noted by Imran Alam above there is documentation that says: "Standard mode has the following features:

Lets you control how report/page and group header/footers display in the CSV output.

Respects conditional suppression."

I would be interested in finding out the official reason that this feature exists - so I can explain that to my customers.

Thanks

HI

If anyone is interested I have been in contact with SAP Helpdesk regarding this, and as Don states the conditionally suppressed lines appearing as blank lines in the CSV export is a by design feature.

However an enhancement request has been raised - ADAPT00721865 to allow these blank lines to not appear.

So all we have to do is look out for this Adapt ID in any future releases.
