Hi
We have a requirement for the client to test the SAP R/3 system in 5 different scenarios but with the same database.
Now for this is it good to go for ?
a) client copy - create 5 additional client and copy the data of about 500gb .
This would definitely need a high end configuration. Can you suggest what should be the hardware configuration(CPU's and memory) and what could be other implications for this.
or
b) Install 5 SAP system separately using system copy method.
We are basically looking for reduction in cost for the hardware and good peformance of the system.
Thanks
Elizabeth
Thanks Francisco
Can you let me know how to estimate the hardware configuration of the system if i need to go for a
local client copy of DB size 900GB.
At present there are 8 online CPUS's 60GB RAM
Let me know on the hardware configuration and also the SAP and oracle parameters that needs to be calculated
based on CPU and memory

Hello,
Actually it depends on what kind of tests you are going to carry out.
If you are going to test just functionality, it is not a bad idea to make client copy. To avoid hardware performance problems, you can serialize the tests. Of course accessing data to big tables will be penalized by their size. But in case the system is freshly installed, thw Wps will cope with the workload well, even if you have 5 clients.
In case you install 5 different servers, it will be of course more expensive in the end, unless you want to carry out tests in all systems at the same time.

Hello,
I would go with system copy (home/hetro for this scenario). Client copy does not move everything to target system. Is your system dual stack?
For sizing you can refer to [service.sap.com/quicksizer]
