SFG alternative BOM in Different BOM

Hi all ,

I have one SFG which is having two alternative bom .

This SFG is used in 2 finished material BOM .

In FG material- 1 i want use SFG alternative -1 and

in FG material -2 i want to use SFG alternative -2 ,

when I RUN mrp system should select the relevant boms.

Is it possible , If yes how to do?

Dear Friend,

Kindly elaborate your actual business requirement to find the exact solution.

Unless we identify the exact difference between your FG1 and FG2 components and difference between BOM alternatives of SFG 1 and 2 and ,we can not predict the possibilities and can not decide either to use variant or alternative BOM

On which basis your selection depend ??

After produciton SFG produciton. we cannot identify SFG stock. with alternative BOM 1 & 2. IN that case just try for two SFG2 & SFG 2.

Are you running MRP at a time for FG1 and FG2 ?

Basically , I am looking for an work around like this :

1.FG1 BOM Alternative : SFG1 as Component -Keep BOM Status -1 Active , SFG1 BOM Alternative 1 : X, Y as component -Keep BOM Status -1 -Active

2.Keep FG2 and SFG2 BOM In -active -2 in CS02

3.Create Routing of FG1 and SFG1 with the same manner .

4.Run MRP-MD02-FG1-Check MD4C-Convert SFG1 planned Order to Production Ordre and also FG1 -Planned Oder to Production Order .

5.Repeate the the Same for FG2 and SFG2 keeping FG1 and SFG2 as inactive BOM status -2 and susequently convert the same .

This is may the work around .

But standard procedure is that , you need to go for Aleter native BOM selection in two fold (FG and SFG for both ) based on the Following set up

1.MRP4 -BOM Selction Method -Keep 2/3 SELECTION by PV

2.Maintain two different PV1/PV2 with a lot size and validity in FG and SFG

Now , when MRP will run in FG and explode the BOM at FG, SFG level , it will chek the MRP4 view indicator frist , if it 2 then it will go to PV 1 and PV2 check the Lot size and Validity and select the alternaitve BOM in two fold

Lastly , Implement the BAdI MD_MODIFY_PRODVERS.

Use the method MODIFY_PRODUCTION_VERSION to write your logic (for checking the stocks) and change the production version to

Then create production version for FG1 material, in that Bill of material tab -- > Alternative bom--> give input as 1 for alternative bom 1

in FG material -2 i want to use SFG alternative -2

Possibilities of SFg alternative 2 bom are

1) You have to manufacture SFG but with different bom structure (component change or quantity change), then alternative bom 2 comes into picture.

Now say you have a standard bom to manufacture SFG, but you want to manufacture the same using different components or quantities, then create an alternative Bom 2 and create 2 production version for SFG (one for bom 1 and the other one for Bom 2)

For this , there is no connection with FG2 and alternative bom SFG2.

In that scenario, dont create a alternative bom for SFG.let it be the standard bom. create new material code for SFG (with same description for identification purpose) and create a bom as per ur requirement

Create a production version for FG2, in that assign the new bom which we have created..This will solve ur problem during MRP run.

Fit your requirement in these BOm type. Tell me what is exact business need there ,so that we can draw perfect solution...

There are two BOM types:

Variant BOM:

If you are producing several similar products that have a lot of common parts, you can describe

these products using a variant BOM. This is the case, for example, if you replace one material

component with another to make a different product.

Alternate BOM:

One product can be manufactured from alternative combinations of materials depending on the

quantity to be produced (lot size)

To select alternative BOM , you can use Production version which can be aasined the required cmbination of BOM and routing,

Assign the BOM alternatives to respective production versions and then assign production versions to the FG1 and FG2 as required. .

Only way to do this that I can think of is using BADI to determine the production version (BAdI MD_MODIFY_PRODVERS). Then you can modify what MRP normally suggest (lowest number of production version).

Consult your ABAPer about this.
