Is it advisable to change account group of GL account?

Hi,

I have seen that it is possible to change account group of GL account even after the posting has been made to this GL account.

Here I would like to know

1)how it impacts on the business and

2)how to make this field not alterable in config after the posting has been made

Hi,

It is not possible to change the account group of a GL account for the simple reason that one of the primary function of account group is to determine number ranges of GL account.

You can create another GL account in expected account group and transfer all the entries.

Thanks for your prompt reply.

But it is possible to change account group even after posting. I also changed post automatically checkbox even though few documents have been posted automatically via MIRO.

There has to be some setting which can prohibit this.

Hello,

As you have mentioned the Account Group and post automatically checkbox can be changed in FS00

eventhough there is transaction data existed already. if you don't want ender user to change it, maybe you can consider to use autorization object to limit their change authorization.you can find all authorization object in Su24 for FS00.
