SAP Login via Fiori and SAP GUI Concurrently - Is this a license breach?

Hi Experts,

We have setup fiori in a central hub scenario integrated with S/4 HANA backend. There are SAP Web GUI applications tiles being used in Fiori through SSO with logon ticket.

With this setup, our users would like to use the HANA backend system using SAP GUI concurrently when the fiori is accessed via browser. This means multiple login to the same backend system through Fiori and SAP GUI.It is working fine in our non prod systems.

Is this an acceptable scenario in production or it is a breach of license agreement to use same system multiple times using fiori and the SAP GUI using same id concurrently

Please advise.

Best Regards,

Ram

Hi Ram,

the same user is allowed to log in multiple times to the same system no matter whether user is creating multiple sessions using SAPGUI, Web Dynpro or SAP Fiori. The user must however have an appropriate named user license.

It would only be a breach of license if the same user id would be used by multiple employees and if not all of those employees would have an appropriate named user license.

For more detailed questions around your contract I would recommend to get in touch with account executive from SAP who is responsible for your company.

Best Regards,

Andre

Hi Andre,

Thank you so much for the detailed clarifications.

Another question on the same line with a practical scenario, if the user is using mobile for approvals in fiori and the same users accessing the a report in fiori through desktop.

Will this create two sessions and is it a breach of license contract? if so, is there a way to avoid this by terminating the other fiori login as the users login for the second time in another device / machine or any other better way around?

Best Regards,

Ram

The same user can open several sessions no matter what Kind of UI he or she is using.
