Definition of 'Work Order Operation Actual Start Date'

How is the actual start date of a work order operation determined?

I have an operation with a latest start date of 01/13/2010 and a latest finish date of 01/14/2010. The first confirmation on this operation was created today (02/11/2010) with a posting date of 02/05/2010.

Looking at the operation, it now shows an actual start date of 01/13/2010 - the latest start date, not the date the work was actually performed nor the date the hours were confirmed.

The actual start date field seems to be of limited usefullness. What am I missing here?

Naresh,

When entering a confirmation in IW41, the only date available is the posting date. This is the date the work was actually performed and, if this was the first confirmation on the operation, the date that I would have expected to be used as the actual start date on the operation.

In my example though, the date that was actually posted to the operation's 'actual start date' field was the date specified on the operation as the 'latest start date', not the posting date.

in IW41, Along with the posting date the following date fields are also available for entry

1) Work started on (Date and time)

2) Work end on (Date and time)

3) Forecast end(Date and time).

As indicated the work started on and work end on equals the actual start and end date for the operation. Please check the field selection config for confirmation transaction under SPRO > PM> Completion confirmation >SET Field selection for completion confirmation and make sure these fields (Actual start and end date and time)are available for edit.

It should be the "Work started on" and "work completed on" dates entered during the confirmation of the operation.Are you seeing different values?
