Scheduled Webi reports failing: Failed to reconnect the service CDZHome

Description of Problem:

Scheduled webi reports fail at random intervals with the following error:

Failed to reconnect the service CDZHome, reason: Communication error occurred when trying to connect to server UTMSAP21.zbc.internal.Web_IntelligenceReportServer(7).webiserver

This error is not specific to any one webi server, but happens to any one of the 12 Webi servers we have running across our cluster of three physical servers. The report failures with this error do not conform to any pattern that can be attributed to external processes that might interfere with the servers.

Product\Version\Service Pack\Fixpack:

BOE XIR2 SP2 FP 1.6

Relevant Environment Information (OS & version, java or .net & version, DB & version):

Windows Server 2003, JRE 1.5, Repo database is Oracle 9.2

Sporadic or Consistent: Sporadic, random.

What has already been tried: Webi servers are set to restart each day in the morning. This does not seem to help the issue. I have searched BOB and the SAP Notes for solutions to this error without success.

Steps to Reproduce:

Schedule a number of webi reports to run at recurring intervals. Observe random failures with this error.

Did you ever get a resolution to this? I have one small set of reports that started consistently producing this error today. I've never seen this before and haven't made any changes to the environment recently.
