Hello,
I have a problem with a vat id for a costumer from Greece. We have got the correct VAT id code, it is confirmed by government for taxes. SAP means the id is wrong and not matching. The correct code is EL +9 diggits and so we go.
We get an error mesage from SAP which says that the country code EL is not valid.
Any ideas ?
Thank you,
Xavier.

In the definition of countries, I added a Line for Greece with country Code 'EL'. The message does not appear anymore and I can save the VAT number.
I deleted the Line of Greece with country code 'GR'.

Hello Xavier,
You can very well maintain VAT Registration Number for Greece starting with EL********* since the internal coding has been adapted keeping in mind the legal requirement for Greece.
Generally prefix to VAT Numbers for European Unions is ISO code and not Country code and hence by changing the country code from GR to EL wont help you any ways & ISO code for Greece is as such GR.
Just try maintaining a test number EL123456783 by keeping the entry as GR in T005 table.

If you got error as country code EL is not valid, chances are: your address format for EL - Greece may have problem. Check it out.
Thanks,
