Hello Experts,
My current Client has ECC-EWM-GTS setup.
We are in the process of implementing Customs Imports for the Netherlands location.
I have setup the system after going through several discussions on the forum but at a point where I need to understand what process from the system standpoint need to be followed if the Business is performing the following function outside today:
Business process:
1. Upon the truck arriving at Customer Warehouse location, the driver's paper work is reviewed and stamped with a NL### number.
2. With the NL### a T1 document is sent to NCTS to seek permission to unload the truck.
3. After getting the permission to unload the truck the warehouse folks would start the unload process.
4. The receiving guys would check the Shipment on quantity along with the packaging information such as pallets, cartons, etc. to make sure there is nothing damaged
5. Warehouse personnel will receive goods on the dock(Interim location for inspection).
6. Upon previewing the Shipment and finding everything Ok, the ECO(Export Control Officer) would send a message to NCTS saying everything was "Ok" during the unloading process.
7. After getting confirmation from ECO, NCTS sends a response saying the T1 has been successfully signed-off for the Customer.
8. ECO then starts creating the Customs Declaration and process through AGS portal site.
9. If there is clearance w.r.t to document check and physical inspection then ECO will instruct the warehouse personnel's to receive the inventory into the main warehouse.
GTS Transit procedure for communication with NCTS
From the system standpoint I have enabled the "Discharge Transit Procedure(TRSC)" to handle points# 1 thru 7 with the following messages:
M0260 —> Arrival Notification (IE07) : Send Notification to the Customs system upon goods arrival with MRN #
I1340 <— Unloading Permission (IE43) : Contains all details supplied by the Customs broker as part of IE15
M0270 —> Conformity check (IE44) : Need to confirm and send unloading report back to Customs authority
I1310 —> Release of Goods (IE25) : Closes the GTS Document and completes the Transit process from Availl standpoint
Question:
How will I be able to perform steps 8 & 9 under the Business process from system standpoint, knowing transit procedure is closed as part of response I1310 from NCTS.
When I attempted to create Customs declaration after GR it gives me error as follows even though the process template I have chosen has nothing to do with safekeeping.
Thanks,
Prashant

Hi Prashant,
If Presentation is not needed, you can prevent automatic creation by un-ticking the check-box "Document Update" in the definition of Message Type 'I1310'.
Hope that helps.

Dave

Hi Dave,
First of all thanks for your response.
What you said is correct and in-line with my current configuration with Presentation enabled that allows me to create Customs declaration that follows successful creation of Presentation/Storage document. I activated this piece of configuration only thinking it's a must have to make the "safekeeping" error go, but based on what you are saying in your response above, it should also work w/o presentation as a intermediary step.
After reading SAP documentation on Simplified Customs process (https://help.sap.com/viewer/bdb1d2fb216941a69f6300006343e977/11.0.08/en-US/a39b097be70141a49e6726806...) w/ regard to Presentation/Storage as an interim step prior to creating the Customs declaration, I went ahead and enabled the presentation process by defining another entry for target procedure "Presentation" tied to Legal Reg. TRSNL within "Determination of Activity Sequence".
The check for "Temporary Storage After Arrival Notification" was already part(Std.) of the Activity sequence "SAVK" within the "SAVKE" process of the "TRSNL process template that I didn't bother to play with.
And I triggered the Presentation document creation based on Closing portion determination with option "C" (i.e..; upon Release notification from NCTS (I1310 - "IE25") which then allowed me to create the Customs Declaration)
When I reversed the configuration in the attached screenshots along with undoing "Determination of Closing portion" on I1310 message followed by creating a new test case, I started running into the "Safekeeping error" again while creating the Declaration.
I would love to eliminate the Presentation document creation step should there be a way to do it apart from what I reversed?

Prashant

Hi Prashant,
The error is generated because your configuration is set to use Temporary Storage when the Transit is completed, but you have not submitted the "Presentation" document to the authorities.
For the process as you describe it, you don't need that additional step, so you should change the configuration settings to avoid it.
In the Activity Sequence for the Presentation process, find and de-select the check-box labelled "Temporary Storage After Arrival Notification". That should avoid the need for additional messaging with the Authorities, and eliminate the error message.
Hope that helps.

Dave

safe-keeping-error1.jpgsafe-keeping-error2.jpgHi Mouaz,
There was a typo in my original message. I have corrected the same by asking system approach for Steps 8 & 9 now.
As for the error message, I realize that the original message did not save the images that I had pasted in the note itself. This time I am attaching the same in a document and hope it comes up.
There is also a reference to another thread from the past that I will mention here for which there was no answer. Seems like this Lady too had the exact same issue and there was no response to her question then. The link is as follows and hope there is an answer now.

I would appreciate any insights you may have w.r.t this issue.
Thanks,
Prashant

Hi,
You message is missing a copy of the error message you mention... and your business process list does not have an item #10...
