Newsletter Campaign - Unsubscribe Link in Email

Hello together,

how we have to customize the unsubscribe link from Newsletter. As we understood we have to create a landing page to unsubscribe. How the current values of customer are prefilled? Or does there exist an option to unsubscribe using one-click directly with a link inside of the newsletter? We are on version 1702.

Hi Oliver,

In 1702 you indeed only have the option to unsubscribe via a landing page.

1711 added an "easy list-unsubscribe" option; which basically adds a dropdown under your "insert url" button with "normal url - view in browser url - unsubscribe url" (or something like it, I didn't look up the exact names) and in case of the unsubscribe url, just the click-through action itself is enough to unsubscribe. Just so you know what you'd gain if you upgrade 🙂

In 1702 you're still obliged to use landing pages.

In the landing page designer, you download the html + css + javascript related to this landing page. The javascript contains somewhere some functions for data prefilling. You deploy your landing page onto your website with this css and javascript; (for onpremise, the infrastructure team does some webdispatcher magic for communication between the website and the marketing onprem system), and you add the url of this page into your mail WITH "append outbound id".

When you click on that link; the landing page will check the outbound id in the url; and call some service within the marketing system to fetch your personal details and prefill them on the landing page, using that outbound id. And then of course when you change your details or permission/subscription, pressing the Save button will trigger another call to the marketing system to write those changes to the marketing system.

Joyca

Edit:

I just see this thread is from january and just popped up in the recent topics due to another remark so probably meanwhile you knew the above already 😄

Dear Mr. Oliver,

Please check the blog on Confirmations for Newsletters and Emails.

Whenever a user, subscribes or unsubscribes to a newsletter or general marketing emails, and an activated confirmation exists, the double-opt-in/out process starts.

I hope this information helps.

Sorry Kunal, but this answer does not help here. My question was very specific.

The question is: Do I need a separate landing page for unsubcriber or can I insert an unsucscribe link directly in the email of the newsletter?

Dear Mr. Oliver,

  • With 1711 it is possible to insert an UNSUBSCRIBE link directly in Email newsletter.
  • It's not possible in the earlier release though!

I hope this information helps.

Hi Rajesh,

Check in your system, if you have direct Opt Out option available. If it is there then you can directly opt out.

You can test this by creating a test content.

Thanks
