Hi All,

Is it possible to reorg a tablespace when dataguard is active?

We've just deleted 500m records from our ERP system and now want to reorg the tablespaces to regain the space saved, but we have dataguard active. If I create a new tablespace on a different volume due to space, this can't be replicated to the physical standby. How best to achieve this? Do I need to stop log shipping, reorg the tablespaces then recreate the physical standby from the new datafiles?

Thanks
Craig

Hi Craig,

No need to switch of the log shipping/DG for tablespace creation and online reorg. Only the thing is you need to have enough space to manage archive logs as online reorg generates huge number of archive logs.

Take a look at below link for more details on actions on primary database that can effect you secondary database in Data guard environment.
