Hello All,

I have had the request in which the payroll department would like to temporarily disable transaction PA30 - Maintain Master Data - from everyone except the payroll department before they begin the payroll process for the week. Anyone know of a simple solution to this?

Looks like this functionality does not exist. I am closing this thread.

why dont you simply lock pa30 in su01.

you can copy pa30 to a custom program zpa30 where only some groups have access to.

Hello,

Changing the status of the control record (PA03) to 'released for payroll' will only block infotypes defined as payroll relevant for the current period. However it will not block futur dated entries to be key. Also all the other infotype will remain 'open'.

Therefore, the only way to block transaction PA30 is by changing the authorizations for the user groups.

Hi,

I too agree with Biswajit, best option is "Authorization".

Just contact ur BASIS person & tell him to give authorization for transaction PA30 to only payroll department.

Thanks,

Sarika.

Hi Kenneth

Authorization is the first & Best option.

And U can lock masterdata maintenance for a particular Payroll area from PA03.

But in this case nobody can change master data not even Payroll department.

Hope this helps U.

I would stick with the Payroll Control Record.. there aren't going to be that many master data change once the payroll is initiated..
