Architecture for QA

Hi

I am getting involved in Quality Measurements Maintainance project .which stores quality measurements of perticular manifacturing product.i am developing proof of concept.So i am directly creating Sturctures in wedbynpro and based on that creating contexts and screens.then i want to deploy these structures onto J2EE engine database.i have couple of questions:

1.is it goodway to use same architure when i start implementing for production system?if not can anybody suggest the appropriate architecture?

2.when i quality measuments ar below than standard values then it should send mail ,sms to supervisor,and should beep the sound.How to make beep sound ?
