Custom employment details field does not appear in business rule options

Good morning:

We are trying to create a business rule to set a new custom field "change of contract start date" from Employment Details to be equal to hire date, but when we try to set up the business rule, the field hire date doesn´t appear among the options to create the rule

there must be something to do here, or is it that is impossible to set a field as hire date?
