The communication between SAP and SCM EWM is handled with In- and Out-bound Deliveries.
Is it the same solution with the new Embedded EWM solution for S/4HANA? Or can there be transactions without Deliveries?
How is the interface between IM and EWM in the new embedded solution looking? What is the main driver, is it still the IM Movement like it was for the classic R/3 WM solution or is it something totally new?
Best Regards,
Lars
Hello Lars,
the communication mechanism is still the In- and Outbound delivery interface. But embedded EWM in SAP S/4HANA offers a simplified integration:
- No Core Interface (CIF) to transfer master data to the embedded EWM application. EWM directly uses business partner, material and batch master data as well as batch classification data created in SAP S/4HANA.
- No redundant customizing between embedded EWM and other SAP S/4HANA applications
- No replication of expected goods receipt (EGR) documents in inbound processes. Embedded EWM directly accesses purchase orders or manufacturing orders in S/4HANA
- Elimination of outbound delivery requests. Embedded EWM directly creates warehouse requests for outbound deliveries
- Elimination of inbound delivery notifications. Embedded EWM directly creates warehouse requests for inbound deliveries
- Elimination of posting change requests. Embedded EWM directly creates warehouse requests for posting changes
- ....

Darius Nowak

Hi,
"Is it the same solution with the new Embedded EWM solution for S/4HANA? Or can there be transactions without Deliveries?"
Well, like in decentral EWM the Advanced Production Integration does not use a delivery. But in general the interface looks the same.
"How is the interface between IM and EWM in the new embedded solution looking? What is the main driver, is it still the IM Movement like it was for the classic R/3 WM solution or is it something totally new?"
Nope. No movement type / reference movement type / WM movement type for the interface. But it is still good to know this, as sometimes the delivery type is determined through it.
