Hi Experts
I am looking to add a new dimension to an existing model having transaction data.My queries are as under:
(1) Can i do it?
(2) What would happen to the existing data? Will it be allocated to the first member of the new dimension?
(3) What is the best way to appropriately allocate the past data to relevant members of the new dimension?
(4) Is creating a new model better option?
Many thanks
SAtish
If you are talking about BPC standard (you forgot to mention it and to provide version and SP info):
1. Yes
2. Yes, to the first member. It's better to add dimension with single member to be sure that this member will be used. Then add other members.
3. It depends on the required allocation logic, not explained, In most cases script logic can do the job.
4. No reason, but you have to backup you environment before changing dimensions to have restore option.
