SAP BW with Oracle DB - ADBC ERROR

Former Member

Good day dear SAP members!

I am facing one problem when I am trying to connect the SAP BW with Oracle DB.

In display database connections are shown Oracle DB connections.

I entered the Database host, service name, port number, TNS Name.

And when I am testing the connection the following error occurs:

-- ERROR Database connection ORA: ADBC error 'Internal error         16  has occured'

Hope to hear from you answers.

Thanks & Regards, Vadim.

Is the SAP system running on an Oracle database?

If yes have you maintained the tnsnames.ora file with the Oracle database you are trying to connect?

How can I set up so that SAP system would be running on Oracle database? I would like to set up this feature too. I have maintained, I have already set up there TNS with name SFKDB.

I am not able to download the lib_dbsl_324-10007271.sar.

I have no access to marketplace as I am using SAP BW developer version.

Can someone suggest where can I get these required files so that SAP BW would work with Oracle?

Hi Vadim,

as you have posted this to the SAP on IBM i group: May I ask on what operating system you application server is running? A connection from an IBM i application server to an Oracle database is not supported.

If you are using a Windows application server, then I would suggest to lock a work process by executing program RSTRC000 in transaction SE38, repeat the connection attempt (in the same session) and then look at the developer trace for more detailed error messages.

Kind regards,

Christina Bartels.

Hi Christian! Thanks for your reply!

The application is running on WIndows 7  64 bit.

I have done all the steps you have suggested me. In developer trace ( transaction SM50 ) I found 12 active processes but no errors.

May this problem occur  because of %TNS_ADMIN%, %ORACLE_HOME% etc?

Database: Unexpected return value 8192  when calling up      DBDS

Database: No shared library found for the database with ID SFKDB

These are two more errors which I found in sammc syslog manager.

Hi Vadim,

as Christian mentioned: Neither DB is DB2 on IBM i nor OS is IBM i. Therefore, I moved the thread to space .

Hope that helps to get you more qualified answers.

juts to be clear.. you mendtioned:

"The application server is running on Windows 7 64 bit."

Really? Windows7 is not among the supported platforms to run a SAP application server...

Maybe that is one of the problem, but to be clear and find out it, I need to download lib_dbsl_324-10007271.sar file. SAP BW works really fine on WIndows 7.

Are able to suggest something, where to look forward at least to get the lib_dbsl file so that i could connect SAP BW to oracle?

Hi Vadim,

Can I have a look at your dbcon entry?

Hi Deepa!

Sure.

This info is from DB connections.

   Connection parameters: SFKDB,"192.168.2.245:1521/SFKDB"

   Database HOST = 192.168.2.245

   Service Name = SFKDB

   Port Number = 1521

   TNS Name = SFKDB

And one more tip. SAP doesn't show me ORA connections at the DB59 tcode. It only shows there ADA connections.

Regards,

Vadim.
