I wonder if there is anyone out there who is having /had the same issue as me using Crysatl 2013 support pack 1??
I have a report, which has some fairly simple hyperlinks set against some fields, which work fine from within Crystal, however, when I export them to PDF, the hyperlinks seem to be getting lost.
I'm 99% sure this has been working fine, but seem to be having problems since moving from XP to Windows 7. I'm sure there is nothing wrong with the PDF viewer I'm using, as I've tested with other PDF's and that seems to work fine.
Can anyone help???
Thanks
Scott
One of the 3rd-party Crystal Reports desktop schedulers (see list at Crystal Reports Viewers, Schedulers and Related Products) allows you to auto-detect and restore file hyperlinks in exported pdf files.

Hi Scott
The search string 'crystal pdf hyperlinks' (serch box in top right corner) came up with the following KBA:
1216667 - Hyperlinks to files do not work when exported to Portable Document Format (PDF)

Hi Ludek
Thanks for looking into this, but that SAP note refers to previous versions of Crystal. In 2013, the export facility has a tick box option which lets you choose to remove the hyperlinks or not:
I'm not ticking the box, so I'm assuming there's something else wrong. Any other ideas??
Thanks again.
Scott
Hi Scott
Interesting. I had no idea this option was added in - and actually one of my most trusted CR design sources did not know about it either so I don't feel that bad - misery loves company .
Anyhow, I did a quick test with a new report - no db connection, just a "Hello World" text box hyperlinked to google. The hyperlink in PDF does work, but it takes along, long time for the page to come up. About 20 seconds. So I did another test. I created a word doc with the same hyperlink and saved as PDF. Interestingly, the hyperlink took just as long to pop up the google page as the CR PDF export.
So, try it again, but be patient.

Hi Ludek
Thanks for looking at this one for me.
I've had a bit more of a play taking your notes into account, and can also add in a website (google.com) to the hyperlink which does work on export, but only if the hyperlink is ticked as a 'website on the internet' if the option of 'a file' (\\severname\share\file.pdf) is selected, the link is lost on export.
I tried to fool it into ticking website, but putting in a local file name, but it seems smarter than that and converts it back to 'a file'.
Any other suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks again.
Scott
Yup. By design. A fav term in tech support
But seriously, see KBA 1216667 - Hyperlinks to files do not work when exported from Crystal Reports to PDF format, for an explanation.
