Unwanted Server listed

Hi,

I have installed Business Objects 4.1 SP4 on QA server. The installation was successful. When i login into CMC i do see the Dev Server listed under the Nodes Along with QA server. Also in the CMS properties - i do see the Dev Server listed under the 'Remote CMS Server'.

Tried to re-install, but facing with same issue.

why is this happening??

Hi Rajshekar,

Are you doing a full install or a custom install in the QA system?

It seems that the 2 environments are getting clustered.

Are you using a default CMS database that is shipped with Bi 4.1?

or are you using a custom database for QA install?

I am doing the Custom install as my web server's are on different machine.

I am using Custom Database(SQL Server) for CMS and Audit.

It's really weird since i have not given any cluster information.

So, is it that the DEV CMS repository exists in the same database(SQL Server)?

what is the identifier for BO that it is going to use a new database and not the existing one in the same database server?

That's weird.

I would check the DSN entries for the custom database.

Rather delete the DSN entries and configure them again correctly.

Since this is a fresh setup i  would also create a new schema altogether and then create new DSN for it.

During the install , do you check the option 'Reset existing database'?

BOBJQA_CMS and BOBJQA_Audit are pointing to BOBJQASQL01 Server

BOBJDEV_CMS and BOBJDEV_Audit are pointing to BOBJQASQL02 Server

I have created the ODBC Connection's on BO Dev and QA server and pointed them to respective SQL Server's.

No, i did not check the 'Reset Existing Database'. is this something i need to do while installing??

If this is a fresh setup in QA then yes.

However make sure you backup your DEV CMS database and filestore before doing this, as these 2 environments are gettings clustered after QA install.
