Hi,
Is it possible to add a check box or drop down list box as a custom parameter to the UME - User Management Engine. (By default, the custom field that we add is a text box).
If some one can help me in this, it would be great.

It's a pity: It is not.
The generic UI for additional UME attributes is quite poor. You would have to implement your own UI for such needs.
