Need clarity on Opening horizon days in Production

I want to what is the exact usage of opening horizon days in production planning.

I want to know if i release the production proposal within the opening Horizon,what will be the impact. I couldn't see any impact of it.The system just calculates the opening days from the Horizon days. Hence i want to know the exact functionality of the opening Horizon days.

Please guide me on this query.

Hi Samraj,

The opening horizon is used to calculate the opening date, which is the date when the proposal should be released to production or purchasing to guarantee on-time delivery, the opening horizon represents a time buffer that is required to prepare production execution. for more clarifications please check the below help document

Thank you for replying me.

Actually even i have read all the documents relating to opening Horizon.

I have maintained the Opening Horizon days as 10, if the planned production start date is say 30th.

Then the opening day will be 21st. I want to know whether the proposal will be released as production request on 21st or the planned production start date will change to 21st or the raw materials required for the producing an FG should be released for producing or purchasing pririt to 10 days. I want to know how the system behavior if we give Horizon days as 10 days.

Because i have tested lots of time and i dont feel it is adding any useful function to the process.

Could you please guide me on the same.
