Is there any advantage in defining a date as a Key Figure as opposed to a Characteristic? I am looking at restricting the object at the query level. Thanks
hi,
u r right, the only reason by having dates defined as keyfig is u can restrict them and use them as variable for the other keyfig. when defining as characteristics u have the advantage of query analysis with respect to dates. so it evry much depends on how u want them to be configured.

You can keep it as characteristic itself.
For the purpose of performing calculations you can create a formula variable of processing type replacement path and replace it by the characteristic date.

... and if you cannot make up your mind - how about keeping both KYFs and char's???

Hi Niten,
If it is for restricting/filtering the data then have the date as characteristic. Only if you are performing any arithmetic operation say difference between two dates OR wnat to display the maximum date would you require it as a KF.
Hope this helps.
