SIZING FOR 10000 RECORDS

Former Member

HI ALL,

SAY WE HAVE 10000 TRANSACTIONS PER YEAR. THIS IS VERY LESS COMPARED TO BANKS WHO CAN HAVE THOUSANDS OF TRANSACTIONS A DAY !!

FOR 10000 TRANSACTIONS, SUPPOSE I HAVE CUBE WITH 7 DIMENSIONS AND SAY 10 KEY FIGURES.

AS PER THE SIZING FORMULA IN ASAP, THE OUTPUT IS A FEW MB !! DO I NEED TO BOTHER FOR SIZING IF I HAVE SOME MORE CUBES (SAY 4 - 5) AND AROUND 10 ODS, BUT THE NUMBER OF TRANSACTIONS REMAIN THE SAME.

PLEASE GUIDE.

Hi,

have you tried the Quick Sizer at service.sap.comquicksizing? Of course you need to allocate some GB for the "empty" BW system (the Quick Sizer does this for you). 10,000 transactions per year is really quite small.

Best regards,

Susanne

Hallo richard

According to your question you need to take care of sizing of all Objects which store data (Data provider).

In your case you need to take care of it. If you first store the 10000 in the ODs and then in the cube you have to size both. if you need for example 10 GB, then you need to think about back up (another 10) and also do not forget it when you make a system copy and when you do archive.

Size everything from Masterdata, ODS, Infocube, custom tables and so on.

HI MIKE

THANKS FOR THE INPUT.

BUT THE ISSUE IS EVEN AFTER CONSIDERING ALL DATA TARGETS/INFO PROVIDERS, THE SIZING ESTIMATES DONT COME IN GB, BUT IN MB. WHAT I MEAN TO SAY IS THAT 10000 TRANSACTIONS A YEAR DONT TAKE UP A LOT OF DISK SPACE....

TYPICALLY HOW MUCH WOULD IT TAKE FOR A SIMILAR SCENARIO?

THANKS IN ADVANCE

CLARIFICATION:

10000 TRANSACTIONS WOULD MEAN 10000 * NO OF KEY FIGURES (10) = 100000 RECORDS
