My SAP Community Network Dashboard

My SAP Universal ID is connected to an S-user account that I received during SAP Education over a decade ago.  SAP decided to deactivate S-user accounts obtained through Education and provide them to only Customers and Partners.

SAP instructed me to create a new P user account and a new Universal ID but I would lose all of my SAP Community content, highlighted in yellow above.  That’s crazy!

I have been working with various SAP people to find a solution to this problem for over a month but “nada”; no solution offered yet.   And here we are 2 days from Obliteration Day May 13th 2022…

Do any other seasoned SAP consultants have this issue?  I’d love to hear from you in the comments.  Thank you.

Hi Ann,

I've had the same issue and have addressed it to SAP support. Apparently there is no way to merge SAP community accounts or to move badges, karma points and reputation from one account to another. The only way is to link the accounts with Account & Settings -> Profile Linking. However as the FAQ there says:
Linking does not combine the profiles in any way or consolidate the content list or the reputation

So if you create a new P-user and even if you link your existing soon to be expired S-user to the P-user, you will have to build your reputation from scratch.

That is really a shame that SAP with such a terrific technology of theirs can solve that simple issue.

Nevertheless, please continue sharing your invaluable experience under whichever account you can.

Best regards

Thanks Dominik.  I asked SAP this morning to "grandfather" my S user account.  Let's see what happens...

Hi Ann,

yes, I have experienced this now two times while changing the company/employer. As far as your account will be locked you can only link your profiles, but you can't edit your blog posts anymore. All followers , reputations, badges are not transfered. They will stay on your old profile and are still visible, but never reached though your new account/profile until anyone is clicking on the link in your profile for linked accounts. At the end it is a mess that there is no solution for it. It might not be given enough attention, because it doesn't happen that often or too rarely among users who care about it.

Just click on my profile and you will see how it will look in the future 😉

But may be craig.cmehil or petteroe can pick this up.

Regards,

Jens

Hi annehustis, I've actually already informed our IT group about this to see what options are available. We are looking into it for you! We know linking accounts is already a possibility so you can link the S account the P but we also understand that's not exactly the solution you are looking for. I will hopefully be back or someone from the IT group soon to help with this!

Thanks Craig.  At least 5 people from SAP have looked into this so far over the last 6 weeks.  I keep getting passed from person to person.  No one is taking ownership!

What is the downside for SAP if you "grandfather" S-user accounts to independent SAP consultants who have had them for many years?  Is there a downside?  I totally understand that you don't want to grant S-user accounts to any more independent SAP consultants who take SAP Education courses.  That's SAP's perogative.

Hopefully you can resolve this before my Obliteration Day, May 13th which is the day after tomorrow.  You will make many independent SAP consultants happy.

Thank you.

Ann

Thanks Jens, I looked at your profile and see your current profile and your "old SCN profile".  Are they both under the same SAP Universal ID?  Or did you have to create a new SAP Universal ID too?

Thank you.

I just switched employers a couple of weeks ago and I have a very similar problem.

I linked my accounts, but I think that eventually all my content will now be accredited to a "former member".  Or that I won't be able to continue having access to my content or continue getting reputation under the same username.

I have 333 answers and 4 blog posts so far ...

I have talked to multiple SAP folks about it, but the answer is still the same .

It is a shame that folks in SAP have not made this a priority. A lot of us put plenty of work into our content.

I hear you and I'm sorry you've been passed around like this. I've notified my manager on this and we are directly checking with the IT team responsible for this to find a resolution.

When I started being active on the forum a couple of years ago, I became aware of this issue after posting my first question. In a sense, I was lucky because all of my content is under my P-user which of course is linked to my company S-user.

Ideally, in your case SAP could perhaps transfer all objects from one user to the other or simply let every educational S-user be as it is now. Following out of curiosity. Good luck!

I'm sorry you're passing through it, same happened to me in the past as I'm former SAP employee and created my account while at SAP.

I did not leave the community, I'm still involved in it, but I started blogging and creating content in other platforms, I don't think the current state of the content tools in the community is a good fit for year 2022.

I'm currently not using the universal ID because the concept is not usable for me due to multiple customers and different prerequisites. You can link profiles: detail

Thank you Craig. In less than 12 hours my S-User will be locked/archived.  Are you able to do anything before then?  Maybe ask SAP to grandfather my S-user until someone can assist me in sorting this out.  By the way, I can't even create a new P user account.  I've been through numerous SAP and SAP Community people in the last 4 weeks and no one can help even with that task.

"This is a mess" is an understatement.

Thank you. Ann Hustis

Hi Ann,

I am also in the same boat. I am an independent SAP consultant and I got my S-user ID in 2004. Lots of postings, blogs, documents posted for the past 18 years, all vaporized into thin air last week.

I have asked SAP about the possibilities to merge the ID's.

I've created an improvement proposal to allow consolidation of badges and reputation points while linking SAP Community profiles. That should solve the issue if SAP takes it seriously https://influence.sap.com/sap/ino/#/idea/284904

!!!Vote please!!!

Hello Dominik, Thank you for submitting this.

Ironically, I cannot vote for this improvement proposal because I'm logged in with my new P user account. and the Vote button is greyed out. The help information states that to vote you have to have an account that allows it, such as an S user.

And here we go round and round again...

I have an extension called "open in chrome", then I used the S-user to vote 😄

Well, SAP requires S-user to vote on improvement proposals. That makes sense for SAP products related. However SAP Community related ones should be accessible to both P- and S-users. That's a glitch in the SAP Influence program.
