Migration and Upgrade from SAP SCM 7.0 EHP3 on Windows 2008 to SAP SCM 7.0 EHP4 on Windows 2019

Dear Experts,

we need to migrate and upgrade our SAP SCM system from:

source: SAP SCM 7.0 EHP3 on Windows 2008 R2 and DB2 10.05.0003 and Livecache 7.9.08.38 (NW 7.40 SP06, SAP Kernel 7.42 SP400)

to:

target: SAP SCM 7.0 EHP4 on Windows 2019

We are evaluating the possibility to perform this activity in 2 steps:

1) create a new Windows 2019 server
2) perform an heterogeneous system copy of SCM 7.0 EHP3 system from Win2008 to Win2019 server
3) perform upgrade from SCM 7.0 EHP3 to SCM 7.0 EHP4 on Win2019 server

Unfortunately we checked that we can not proceed with step 2) since SCM 7.0 EHP3 is not supported as per SAP PAM, so we can not proceed in this way.

Can you please provide some details about how to perform this migration?

Thanks a lot in advance for your support.

Hi Marco,

Kindly follow the steps

1. Create the new Windows server 2019 along with DB2 11.5

2. Do the Homogenous system copy from old Windows 2008 to 2019 with DB2 11.5

3. After completion of the system copy, perform the upgrade SAP SCM 7.0 EHP3 to EHP4

Regards

SS

Hi Sriram, many thanks for your feedback. One more question: 1. on your step 2., do you mean that if we upgrade our DB2 from source 10.05.0003 to target version 11.5, together with SAP Kernel update from source 7.42 to target 7.54, we can run SAP SCM 7.0 EHP3 system on Windows 2019 OS, as a temporary step before upgrade to SAP SCM 7.0 EHP4, is it correct? https://userapps.support.sap.com/sap/support/pam?hash=s%3DEHP3%2520FOR%2520SAP%2520SCM%25207.0%26o%3... 2. what about our source Livecache version 7.9.08.38 of SAP SCM system? Is it still compliant with target Windows 2019 OS, or do we need to upgrade it as well? From PAM it seems like we would need to upgrade it to new target version on Windows 2019: https://userapps.support.sap.com/sap/support/pam?hash=s%3DEHP3%2520FOR%2520SAP%2520SCM%25207.0%26o%3... Ref. also SAP Note 919224. Thanks a lot in advance.

Hi Marco, 1. You do not need to upgrade the existing source DB system, all the actions you have to perform in the target system with Windows server 2019 with DB2 11.5, your source system does not support DB2 11.5 in Windows server 2008. As per the SAP PAM. 2. Regarding the Live cache you have to upgrade the latest patch which is already mentioned in the SAP Note 919224, on the source system before migrating to the new Windows server 2019. 3. If possible you can perform the steps of any one of the tests or sandbox systems before getting into the live landscapes. Regards SS

Hi Sriram, about your last reply: is there a procedure that we can follow in order to avoid to perform any actions on source Livecache system before upgrading SAP SCM 7.0 EHP3 ? Thanks in advance.

Hi Marco, You have to follow the SAP system copy guide with livecache server, Kindly refer to the latest system copy guide from the following link https://help.sap.com/docs/SAP_NETWEAVER/9e41ead9f54e44c1ae1a1094b0f80712/576f5c1808de4d1abecbd6e503c...
