Introduction to SAP MDM

Vatsal_Gupta_0-1710163268211.png

SAP MDM stands for SAP Master Data Management. It is a component of the SAP NetWeaver product suite, which is designed to manage an organization's master data in a centralized and consistent manner. Master data refers to the core business information shared across an organization, such as customer data, product data, vendor data, and other key entities.

The primary goal of SAP MDM is to provide a single, reliable source of truth for master data, ensuring that all business processes and applications within an organization use consistent and accurate data. By centralizing the management of master data, SAP MDM helps improve data quality, reduce data inconsistencies, and enhance overall business efficiency.

Requirement

As per EWA our MDM System SPS17 running on MS SQL 2012/WIN Server 2012 was out of support for Maintenance. In-Place Upgrade to latest SPS21 was not possible due to OS limitation. A new installation to SPS20 and then upgrade to SPS21 on PAM supported OS WIN Server 2019 was required.
