Page Keys Not Updated in SAP Enable Now

Greetings!

We are working to maintain our page keys, and have noticed that they do not change even after successfully running Replace Page Key Attributes (with a dialog that tells us the page keys have been updated).

For example, we have a set of "SAP Easy Access - User Menu for (user name)" page keys, and we have run Replace Page Key Attributes to change all of them to "SAP Easy Access - User Menu for .*", but when we go back in, all of the names are still there are none of the page keys have changed at all.

Has anyone run into this before? Any thoughts?

Hi apetriuusi2,

Just ran the page Key editor (Advanced mode, of course) for 11 guided tours located in the Account Receivable (GR_6BCC4E3E0458B397) folder to neutralize the SAP Easy Access window title. All worked fine. You can find my changes saved under the new version.

Proof 🙂

Anton,

Thank you for confirming you are able to edit! That is good news at least.

Do you have any thoughts as to why our admin is encountering issues? Is there perhaps some sort of a limit? He is editing the page keys for the entire Published > SAP > Global English directory, so perhaps we could have him try with a smaller subset?

Stay well!

It should work withut issues when all the objects are being edited beforehand.

I can still try to do it from my side.

Thanks Anton, any luck? As an update, our admin tried with a single sub-process area and the page keys didn't update. 😞

Hi apetriuusi2,

I checked the random folder Published - SAP - Global English - RTR, and I could find any records confirming that objects had been edited there in 2022. You know, SAP Enable Now records all events, including Start Editing and Finish Editing even when no changes were made.

I ran page keys neutralization first for the entire RTR folder, Producer was able to process 100+ objects, then crashed. So I did neutralization for each folder inside the RTR, and it worked for me.

You can see my change records in the sims' properties.

For me it still seems like your admin is doing the process in a wrong way. Ask him/her to neutralize the page keys for projects in the particular folder, and then check the records in the object's History. If he/she tried it in a correct way, you will see at least the "Start Editing" and the "Finish Editing" events.

Hi apetriuusi2

I could take a look; however, unfortunately, my SAP Enable Now local account (i307429) has expired in your system. If you could activate it back, then I'm pretty sure we'd be able to fix it 😉

P.S. Nice backround on your avatar. So familiar to me 🙂

Anton,

Thank you! I have activated your account - you should be able to log in now and take a look.

I am glad you enjoy it! It has been so long since I have actually worked in the office now... I miss it!

Stay well!

Hi Andrew,

I have seen this when you do not have editing control of the content objects that you are trying to change. Just make sure that you have editing control, the green pencil, before you try to change the page keys.

Shane

Thank you Shane, that was actually something I considered as well. I have checked and confirmed that our admin is "Editing All Objects", then making the changes, and the issue still persists.

Stay well!

Can't say I've seen this before. Check out all the objects first and see if that makes a difference. (I don't think that's necessary, but as a way of ruling out permissions or someething...) You're using the presets, or your own Regular Expression? It shows OK on the preview, and then when you click Replace you get a confirmation message? At that point if you go into the object and display its key do you see your changes and a 'original value' property?

Yeah, it is really quite strange. I can confirm the admin is checking all the objects out (we started doing that once the issue began, just to see if it would help).

We had been using the presets, but actually another issue has now arisen where SAP:title only shows up when we access in Advanced mode, so we tried using Regular Expressions and still no luck (at which point we figured we would reach out to the community before submitting an incident).

After the confirmation, if we go to the object, the exact same values display - nothing is changed. And when we go back to the Replace Page Key Attributes screen, the values are the same there... Very odd.

Ooh, now you mention the SAP Title... There was a patch for this issue. Maybe this is also fixed by the patch? Probably worth installing it and checking. SAP Note 3132378

Advanced mode is the best for editing Page keys. No bugs and time proven 😉
