Use of SAP Cloud Connector

0 Kudos

Hi Everyone!

I am new to SAP Cloud Platform & CPI. I have gone through a few blogs related to SAP Cloud connector, however I am still a little unclear about it's usage. I understand that when the backend system is on-premise, that's when the SCC is really required. In my customer's landscape, the backend system is SAP S/4 HANA system which is hosted on MS Azure Cloud. This lies in a different data center as compared to the SAP CPI and other applications on our SAP Cloud Platform NEO environment. Would be helpful if you could guide me as to whether we would need to use the SCC for integrating CPI with our S/4 system. Should our inbound integrations look like:

SaaS --> CPI --> Cloud Connector --> S/4.

Also, I understand that for scenarios outbound from S/4, the SCC would not be required. Hence the integrations would look like:

S/4 --> CPI --> SaaS.

Appreciate your responses on the above questions!

Thank you so much,

Jyotika.

Hello Jyothika,

Real use of Cloud Connector is to make sure your backend is not exposed to outside world.As per my understanding if your S4Hana system is on Azure still they might have setup VPN or similar security standards to access the same in their network. From security stand point you can route the message to Cloud connector installed in Customer Network from their it can hit S4H securely.

Below still holds good as per my understanding

SaaS --> CPI --> Cloud Connector --> S/4 on Azure

Agree on below point

"SCC would not be required. Hence the integrations would look like:"

S/4 --> CPI --> SaaS.
