Hi Experts,
I have to upgrade the existing PI server of my client to latest one.I put in
front of him both the options of PI7.4 and PO.He preferred PO.
They have only 3 interfaces in CCBPM and no ABAP or XSLT mapping.
I have never worked on PO before and have some queries below before I go for
upgrade.Request you to answer as many questions as you can.
1)I checked the current PI version of the client and from Java start page-
>Administrator ->software build info -> NW04S_22_REL.I could not find it in
sap site but in some questions in scn I got to know that NW04S is PI 7.0 , is
this correct?
2)What is the tool required for moving conventional interface (with SA,RD,ID
it says about "Directory Content Migration Tool".Has any
new tool come up or we still use this? since this blog was written 2 yrs back.
3)Also it says scenarios which does not have sender agreement cannot be
converted from this tool.I have more than 100 interfaces which are sender
proxy, which does not have SA, will i need to create them again?
4)What about the ESR content? Can we just export import those object without
using any tool?
5)Can anyone send any link for learning NW BPM for PO, which is specific to
interface building?
Hi Dilip,
1. yes, NW04S signifies PI 7.0 version
NW04--XI 3.0
NW04S--PI 7.0
Higher PI 7.1
2. Yes, we will use migration tool available in PO to migrate interfaces which are present in dual stack to PO system ICO configuration. You need to just use the tool which transforms the conventional objects present in dual stack version into single stack version object. I have just quickly viewed the blog, it is looking fine to me. You can refer the below document on the migration tool usage:
But if the interface design has changed to accomodate to new system, then in this case you need to redesign newly in the new system accordingly.
3. No, we can migrate the interfaces where sender agreement is not available. Refer the link in the above point and you find on how we can select the interface by either configuration scenario or sender agreement or receiver determination.
4. For ESR content, you can go for file transport to export from old system and import to new system.
5. There are lot of links available in SCN on NW BPM, just search with NW BPM keyword
Normally we won't go for NW BPM until and unless there is no other option. For the ccBPM scenarios in old system, we can achieve the same functionality in new system by using standard module beans provided by SAP.

Hi Dilip,
As per my experience:
1)I checked the current PI version of the client and from Java start page-
>Administrator ->software build info -> NW04S_22_REL.I could not find it in
sap site but in some questions in scn I got to know that NW04S is PI 7.0 , is
this correct?
Yes, you are right, without the S it will be a XI.
2)What is the tool required for moving conventional interface (with SA,RD,ID
and RA ) to ICO? In this blog Moving Integration Directory Artifacts from dual stack to single stack
it says about "Directory Content Migration Tool".Has any
new tool come up or we still use this? since this blog was written 2 yrs back.
This tool is still valid, i have used to Xi to PI 7.4 migration this year.
4)What about the ESR content? Can we just export import those object without
using any tool?
I transport manually the files. I don't know any, may be someone. Don't forget to migrate the SWC on the SLD first.
5)Can anyone send any link for learning NW BPM for PO, which is specific to
interface building?
Try to search on the SCN, you can find some interesting links.
Regards.
