Hi SAP,

Our current Oracle database is on 12.2 and we are planning to upgrade Oracle 19c to the latest version and enable full TDE encryption.

1. Can you please advise on the recommended Oracle version ?
2. Is there any known issue while performing Oracle Upgrade from 12 to19c such as performance issues ?
3. We have Data Guard Enabled, let us know the correct upgrade approach for this ?
4. can we enable full TDE along with the Oracle 19c upgrade or should we enable it separately ?
5. What should be the MOpatch and Opatch to be applied to mitigate the vulnerabilities as a part of the upgrade ?
6. Can you please provide relevant guides for Full TDE encryption for Oracle 19c ?

Dear Customer,

Please find the answers for your questions below:

1. The recommended version is Oracle 19c with the latest SAP Bundle Patch 19.18.0.0.230117.

For more information please check below notes:

2800001 - Upgrading to Oracle Database 19c (DBUA)
2799920 - Patches for 19c: Database

2. Please check note 2800001 for the possible peformance and other issues.

3. Dataguard is independent from the upgrade, one rule is that the Primary and Standby database has to be on the same version and patch level.

4. You have to enable it separately. Please check below note for more information:

2485122 - Support for Oracle Transparent Data Encryption (TDE) in SWPM

5. To avoid the possible vulnerabilities, it is always recommended to apply the latest SAP Bundle Patch.

6. Please check note 2485122.

Best regards,
SAP Product Support
