ui5 'input' controls inappropriately display in 'full-screen mode'

I've got Input, ComboBox, and Select controls in various areas in my application. In certain circumstances, the control accepts 'more than freeform' (so for an Input, whenever it has suggestionItems etc.; for the other controls, pretty much by default).

In this case, when the user uses the control (like clicks in the Input, or drops down the Select or the ComboBox via the dropdown arrow), the ui to select a choice displays not directly below, say, the dropdown arrow (ComboBox and Select); or the ui doesn't remain unchanged (Input).

Instead, the UI displays an entire 'new screen' with the component controls. No matter which control we're taking about, this screen displays. For the Input and ComboBox, it has a freeform text control along the top, and an 'OK' button along the bottom; for the 'Select', it has no such elements.

This behavior is consistent no matter where in my UI I place one of these controls.

What I'd like instead is what I believe should be the default behavior of these controls, as in the SAP examples: the choosing should occur 'in-place'. So for the Input, when it's clicked/edited/etc., any suggestions show below the control; for the ComboBox and Select, choosing the dropdown arrow triggers the items to show below the control.

The controls themselves are all configured no differently from in the SAP documentation. I can't think of any configuration I've applied to the 'containing controls' or to the view(s) itself/themselves, that might affect this behavior.

Any suggestions, answers to what's going on, or info in general would be appreciated.
