Hello Experts,
Recently, we have upgraded the trex to version 83 by following "2908036 - How to install TREX on Windows - step by step guide". But on doing so, it has overwritten its previous version configuration. Is there any way to upgrade the trex by keeping the configuration as it is of previous version.
Thanks
Adil
Hi adilkhan2019,
Is this issue still open?
For upgrade you can use the action==upgrade option as mentioned in the SAP Note above & also suggested by our colleagues... Alternatively, this also can be achieved if you have a older SWPM version on GUI mode...
Anyways what default configuration are you looking for, could you please ellaborate a little more... Generally if you do Physical host to virtual host conversion then, there also standard process available... Generally for indexes format remains same on the same host & so gets read after upgrade already....
Thanks,
Kaushik

Hi Adil
1. Before starting the upgrade take the full backup of the USR folder and refer to the SAP note 975965 back-ups the index objects
2. After completion first point then start the Trex upgrade in case of any issues you can restore the configurations are index objects.

Hi Adil
For installation, you have to use the command " install.cmd --action=install'
for existing Trex instance upgrade use the command " install.cmd --action=update' both commands are available in the SAP Note 2908036, topic name "How to perform an upgrade of an existing TREX installation to a newer revision" it will not overwrite the existing Trex configurations.

Thanks Sriram,
We used the same command install.cmd --action=update --sid=<SID of TREX> --password=<password of the sidadm user> --restart, but somehow it has overwritten its previous version configuration, we used this command to upgrade our non prod system but now we can't take risk in our prod system.
