SAP GUI not starting

Hello,

I have a problem with SAP that I haven't been able to solve for several days. I have a Windows 2012R2 server on which I am running SAP (7.40 Patch 8). It is a CITRIX server actually, it boots via the network via a provisioning service.
Since a few months (apparently) When I launch the program (via SAP Logon), the SAP GUI does not start, so the process appears in the Task Manager but the program never show up, the GUI doesn’t appear! (No error message or anything)

So I imagine that Windows updates are the cause of this, because the server was unused for months (We will put it into production soon)

I already had this problem by the end of 2019 but on a Windows Server 2016. I made a lot of research back then, but I couldn’t find the solution so I thought that SAP was incompatible with Windows Server 2016 (even with version 7.6 I had the same problem) so I decided to reinstall everything on a Windows Server 2012R2 and it worked… but look like the recent updates apparently made the problem appear again 😕

I see nothing on log (not sure if I can specifically find logs regarding the start up of the program) or event viewer I have already done a complete reinstallation of the program, I even tried to restore a backup but my oldest backup also has the problem.
And I can't reinstall everything this time, like I did a few months ago, because I have way too many specific other applications installed on the server 😕

So I have no choice to solve that problem but I don’t really know how to solve this or at least how to identify what’s exactly causing the problem : I find nothing on the log files available and nothing in event viewer. Already made a lot of research on internet but I can't find someone that had the same problem as me 😕

Does someone have an idea on how to obtain more logs about the issue or how to solve it?

Update : Apparently the problem is coming from the ntuser.dat on the local profile.. I deleted it and it now work again. What is strange is that every person that already had an existing profile on the server had the same problem.
Once deleted, even with a server restart it's still working so maybe a Windows Update corrupter all NTUSER.dat at once... I really don't know 😕

Hi, Sebastien:

Does that mean we should close the question? Or do you still need assistance?

Kind regards,
