SAP GUI 7.70 Turkish Language Problems

We have an encoding problem in SAP GUI 7.70 patch 6 (latest version as of now) on Windows 11 in one of our computers. Strangely, it only happens on just one computer, but not on the others with the same configuration. I couldn't fix it no matter what I did. I switched many settings in SAP Logon, even set Turkish as default user language in SAP server configuration. Nothing fixed the problem entirely. The application shows parts of the interface (settings page) in English even if I set it to Turkish. Also, the parts where it shows in Turkish have an encoding problem because Turkish specific characters are shown incorrectly. I uninstalled and reinstalled several times, copied configuration files from other computers but didn't work. Any clues?

The images should be inline in the post, to be easier to see.

Aside from that, have you tried a restore / clean-up? (in the "options" menu)

Or perhaps even zapping the whole "SAP GUI" directory under "Documents".

Thanks for the reply.

I converted the images as inline.

I used settings-cleanup once too, it didn't solve the issue.

I'm doing all changes from the user account btw. Should I switch to a Windows admin account?

I don't think this is an admin issue, to me it looks like a Windows font issue. Try moving the SAPGUI directory out of the way, so that you have a backup and at the same time you force the creation of a new profile. If the issue persists, I would ask SAP to check the issue.

aside from incorrect fonts or encodings, there still exist a big problem.

Why SAP GUI settings still shown in English even if I choose TR (Turkish)?

I change exactly the same setting on my computer and it immediately changes the language of SAP GUI Options interface. I can successfully switch between EN and TR on my computer but not on that problemmatic computer.

Weird.

Could you perhaps remove and reinstall the language pack?

I will try it tomorrow. Thanks.

In your case, if we take "hakkında" as an example (English "about"), the character "ı" (U+0131) is not output in the SAP Logon menu, I guess there's a code page mismatch, somewhere.

The note 2447563 - Basic check points for Garbled Characters issue in SAPGUI says to look at Windows setting Region > indicate Turkish as System locale for non-Unicode programs.

I finally found the root cause of it and solved!

Windows Settings -> Regional Settings -> Admin Language Settings : Untick "Use Unicode UTF-8 (BETA)" setting solved all my problems.

I hope SAP can solve this weird bug permanently in a future version.

Thank you all commenters!
