SAC new Model: Currency Conversion not working (client version 2022.2.10)

MKreitlein

This question is directed to SAP or SAC product owners, like e.g. william.yu

Today I found this issue in the New Model...

...and I would like to get more information on this... since I could not find a related support note… or any hint in the HELP documentation.

What I found is this note: https://launchpad.support.sap.com/#/notes/2994816 but it does not contain this issue.

This option: Under the "Maintenance" section: disable the toggle "Use Optimized Scenario Composer of Analytical Engine" is greyed out anyway 😞

So, when did the functionality of currency conversion got “de-activated” in the new model, and when will it be available again?

I tested the result as of now: I can plan data on local currency (coming from an organizational dimension), but as soon as I display a currency converted key figure in my new model, which references the normal key figure, then I get error messages that conversion factors are missing in my currency table.

Eventually, this is not correct. I maintained two pairs e.g. USD <-> EUR for all 12 months of my data, since several months were given in the error protocol.

I remember that earlier – when this still worked – it was possible to maintain only the first date, e.g. 01.01.2022 and it was used for all upcoming months.

Could somebody from SAP shed a light on the issue here or refer to a help page or a support note?

Is this not a "degradation issue" worth to be communicated?

Btw. I identified as well an issue in a classic model with currency conversion, but I could not find the root cause yet, since the data is just not loaded - but also no error message is displayed 😞

Update: In the meanwhile I found the issue for the conversion errors, regardless in the classic model, in the new model or the data action.

It seems the conversion functionality does not read the corresponding lines for my Actuals version:

When I add the missing conversion based on my data model, it just enters the first 3 columns without the version, and with these entries now all 3 variants work:

I guess the Info message above indicates that somehow, but I definitely know that it also worked with category and rate type once in the past.

Thank you very much, Martin

Hi m.kreitlein,

This information in modeler when you switch on currency conversion should NOT have impact on any currency conversion feature of new model. Both currency conversio on the fly or through data action should be supported.

And you only need maintain rates for 01.01.2022, it should work for all the periods after 2022. If you are not able to find out why you need to maintain rates for all 12 months, please raise a ticket on this.

Best regards, William

Hello William,

you are right... I thought the 12 months are needed, before I found out that the Category is not taken into account and either this or the Rate Type are causing the failure of the conversion. So with only the "blank" lines and 1 month it's working.

I will investigate further, so find out which of both is the troublemaker.

Thanks, Martin

PS: A link on that info box to explain the meaning - like available in error messages - would have been helpful anyway.

Hi m.kreitlein,

Thank for the update. As to that info box, actually it's planning no role. I will check internally on this.

Best regards, William
