Whenever launching SAP GUI on a virtual desktop (Windows 11 SAP Corporate), I am requested to enter a PIN for a smart card - please refer to the screenshot attached.
If I close this window, it appears again. After being closed for the second time, SAP GUI starts normally. However, this prevents some SAP GUI scripts I am using from functioning - SAP GUI cannot be launched without these windows having been closed.
This has started last week without me anyhow changing SAP GUI or Windows settings. I have tried to re-install SAP GUI, but it did not help.
Any tips how to stop this behaviour?
Hello Mark,
we have seen this happen before (primarily on VMs).
When SAP Logon tries to load the central SAP UI landscape, something goes wrong when checking the certificates (which somehow causes the operating system to bring up this PIN dialog). In patchlevel 7 of SAP GUI for Windows 8.00 we have adjusted our loading of the landscape file so that this issue should no longer occur.
Therefore, my advice is to try patchlevel 7.
Best regards,
Frank
