Can ABAP Proxy for PI be called from CPI?

Hi Experts,

There is a PI to CPI migration project that I am a part of, and they have some proxies that PI is calling for outbound scenarios. is it possible for CPI to call those proxies?

Thanks 🙂

Hi Sookriti,

I suspect the purpose of the proxies you mentioned is secure and streamlined Internet connectivity. Once you migrated to CPI (running on SAP BTP) you are already on the public Internet, so there is no need for any proxies for that scenario. Private Connectivity from onprem or hyperscaler environment such as Azure to CPI goes traditionally through the SAP Cloud Connector (SCC). Note that the SCC requires Internet outbound connectivity to reach SAP BTP initially.

If you want also no outbound internet connectivity have a look at our current beta for SAP Private Link for Azure and my blog series.

To secure your public endpoints on CPI you have SAP's API Management as part of the Integration Suite or Azure API Management or other 3rd party products.

I guess you refer to ABAP proxies and Martin has misunderstood your question in his comment

yes, you can call ABAP proxies using the XI adapter of SAP Cloud integration

I use proxy servers to protect my privacy on the Internet. Nowadays, it is easy enough to track the location of any computer, but thanks to proxies, it is much harder. I use iran socks proxy on the recommendation of a friend. In addition, Iranian proxies are cheaper than others. It's quite handy because I get a stable connection to any server. Moreover, proxies help me to avoid regional blocking for some sites. Now I have no restrictions on the Internet.

You can work with proxy servers as you want. To carry out the process you describe, you need network experience and knowledge. But if you ask, it means you don't have it. I advise you to watch a YouTube video about fully configuring the ABAP Proxy. Then you can already do everything you need. I personally can't help you because I haven't used a proxy server for a long time, but I think that this forum will be able to give you a full answer if you need it. Now I have started working with Apiip, and I plan to purchase an IP checker API from them to get information about every visitor to my website.
