Problem connecting to livecache after installing SCM 5.1

Former Member

This is a new installation on Windows 2003 x64 / MSSQL 2005.

SCM and LiveCache running on the same server.

The problem occured initially in transaction LC10, selecting the

database connection LCA and clicking livecache:monitoring end with a

timeout error:

Name and Server : SLQ - pmichsapbw56

DBMRFC Function : DBM_CONNECT

Error : Connect timeout

Error Message : Could not connect within 25 seconds

The configuration of passwords has been checked on the livecache DB by

connecting with database manager.

Going to transaction DB59 for connection test. the DBMRFC server is

started and the connection test gives the following result:

1. Connect. test with "dbmcli db_state"

Successful

2. Connect. test with command mode "dbmrfc db_state"

Successful

3. Connect. test with session mode "dbmrfc db_state"

Unsuccessful

dbm_system_error

Name and Server : SLQ - pmichsapbw56

DBMRFC Function : DBM_CONNECT

Error : Connect timeout

Error Message : Could not connect within 25 seconds

4. Connect. test with "native SQL" ( LCA )

Successful

If DBMRFC server is restarted, testing the RFC SAPDB_DBM_DAEMON from

transaction SM59 is working correctly.

Then I tried again the test of connection LCA from DB59 and it fails.

I did the same test restarting DBMRFC server with trace (from

transaction db59).

Here is the trace from dev_rfc.trc:

Problem is solved.

Cause: Named-Pipes protocol was not activated for the MS SQL DB instance.

Thanks to all !

Hello Jaswant Purba,

I think that you posted your information in the wrong thread.

If you have problems with the liveCache please create the OSS ticket

Or if you have the general question about liveCache/liveCache application, please create the new thread.

Thank you and best regards, Natalia Khlopina

Natalia,

Thanks for your answer.

The tp test is not running very fast and I applied note 208632 on my system.

I still get the same error.

I opened OSS ticket #0000625428.

Thanks,

Stéphane

Hi

This did not make a difference that where your live cache installed. I write down all the configuration steps.

Please go through once again to make sure you did not miss anything. This is an example so change your values accordingly

regards

Jaswant

Reference u2013 Use Live Cache Installation Document for more detailed description

Install SCM(Application for which you have to install and configure Live cache)

- login to SCM/BW client with user DDIC

- call LC10 and create logical connections LDA and LCA.

LC u2013Name: LC1

Server: hwi022

DBM-user CONTROL

Password CONTROL

Important!!!

Change default SAPR3 to SAPLC1 and enter the chosen password during installation

Only for connection LCA enter administration report

Integration  Administration Report  in field Fllw-up Procg of section Initialize liveCache Add /SAPAPO/DELETE_LC_ANCHORS  save & Go back to previous Menu

Click Live Cache Moitoring ButtonAdministration (Left Pane)Operating (doubleclick)  Administration (Top Menu)  Initialize Live cache

or

Administration-> Initialize LiveCache

- call SM37 and verify that all batchjobs of report SAPAPO/DELETE_LC_ANCHORS finished successfully.

There must be two jobs for the BW client called PEGAREA_LC_CLIENT_<CLIENT> and RESOURCE_LC_CLIENT_<CLIENT>

- Restart system

- create new user TEST / INITIAL in client 000 (copy of user DDIC)

- login to client 000 with user TEST and change the password to EMPASS

- call SM59 and create RFC destination <SAPSID>CLNT100 with the

following parameters:

- add new client 100 with transactions SCC4, SCCL (profile SAP_UCSV, source client 000, source client user 000) and SCC3 (details see below)

- set DEFAULT profile parameter: login/system_client = 100

- stop and restart system

- login to client 100 with user TEST

- call transaction SM30 and create new logical system <SAPSID>CLNT100 in view V_TBDLS

- with transaction SCC4 assign logical system <SAPSID>CLNT100 to client 100 and change client role to 'Production'

- call transaction RSA1

Test Livecache with transaction /n/sapapo/om03

Hello Stéphane,

1) You are SAP customer => I recommend you to create the OSS ticket on this issue.

2) As hint, please check if the tp test will take long time to run.

Run it in /nstms transaction or run report RSTPTEST in /nse38.

Or run command :

tp connect is the SCM database name.

If the connection test is running slow, please check the SAP note ::

208632 TCP/IP network protocol for MSSQ

Thank you and best regards, Natalia Khlopina
