PHYS_MEMSIZE on windows

Hi All,

would like to ask few things regarding parameter PHYS_MEMSIZE on windows..

As we all know PHYS_MEMSIZE is set during installation by default and value will be Main Ram meaning total ram available at os level for example server has 64 GB ram then this parameter value will be 64 gb .

SAP Note(88416) says If you operate several SAP ABAP Server instances on one computer, you must set the parameter PHYS_MEMSIZE in the instance profiles. My question is, if we have ACS and PAS(primary app server) all together on server do we still consider changing default value of PHYS_MEMSIZE ??

Since the parameter has default value it is allocating all memory and server is getting hang as it not getting memory for other services like antivirus and other windows services. So can we change the default value and keeping some memory for other services.

SAP System is SAP Netweaver 740 and kernel is 749

Thanks

Tabrayz

Hello Tabrayz,

you should set PHYS_MEMSIZE with the memory you want to assign to the specific instance.
I mean, if you have two instances or other applications running in the same server you shouldn't leave the default value (RAM memory) in the Instance profile
You have to set it with the available main memory for that SAP instance

Kind regards,
Mercedes
