ODBC connection issue with ServiceNow database

Hello,

I have installed the licensed version of SAP Crystal Reports 2020 Support Pack 2 Patch 1., Also I downloaded ServiceNow ODBC setup from the official ServiceNow account. I run both the Crystal report and ODBC as "Run as Administrator".

When I try to create a new DSN as per ( Create a new DSN (servicenow.com) ), I am not able to view the full Setup screen and don't have an options to select DataSource. Kindly check the image "ODBC VIew" for reference.

When I configure the default DSN and run on Test connection it was successful. Kindly check the image "ODBC 64"

When I create a new report with default DSN, the report was run successfully and generated all the data's. When I refresh the report multiple time, I am getting database error 1001.Kindly check the image "ODBC Error".

After that database error, even I am not able to run the existing report also not able to create a new report.

Even sometime when I entered the database credentials and click on OK button the application was closing automatically.

Could you please suggest what causing the issues here. odbc-view.pngodbc-64.png

When opening CR try right clicking on the Icon and Select Run as Administrator, see if that resolves the issue.

If not I suggest doing a repair of CR install as well as the SNOW ODBC Client, be sure to install both with an Admin account by right clicking on the setup.exe and selecting Run as Administrator.

If others have no problem at your site it's likely environment issues on your PC causing the problems.

It could be your AV or Firewall software doesn't have full rights to CR Designer, have your IT's guys check the logs to see if one of them is blocking access.

The Windows Event Viewer may catch something or the AV logs.

In addition to Dell's suggestions for Service Now, for the "application was closing" issue you might wish to upgrade to a new SP of Crystal Reports. You can get that from the support site, or if you don't have access to support then you can get a later version from the trial download page.

This is a security issue in the database. Your Crystal-Reporting user ID not only needs to be able to read all of the data in the database, it also needs to be able to get the metadata. Querying the metadata is how Crystal gets the list of table names. For example, if this was a SQL Server database, the reporting user would need to have access to query the System Tables. I'm not sure what the equivalent of this is for ServiceNow, though.

Hell Dell Stinnett..

That user account has admin access, and all our team members are using same account to generate the report. Only issue is having with my connection alone. Sometimes when I close the application and connecting with the same user ID, its working for me, But most of the time I am getting above screen error.

This is not really a Crystal issue - it's an issue with the ODBC connection to SNOW that appears when you're trying to connect from Crystal. A google search found a couple of pages on the SNOW website that might be of use to you:

You may need to contact Service Now support for assistance.
