Not getting Chinese characters in proper format from ODBC datastore connection (AS400) source

Hi All,

We have couple of AS400 legacy systems for which we have setup datastore connections using ODBC DSN .

The driver used is iseries ODBC access driver 11.64.09.00

Some of the tables contain few rows or cells having chinese characters. This data is being displayed in the form of unsupported characters.

We have tried using multiple code pages (utf8 , cp936 ) . We are not able to view data and get some ODBC error when we use unicode or big5 codepage.

Please help us out here.

Hi Arun,

We tried upgrading the driver to another version, 12.64.05.00 . Another team was able to read Korean characters properly using this version of drivers. But we are still facing the same problems with this version as well.

Hey Siddharth,

Whats the version of SAP Data services with Service pack and Patch level?

Did you check the Product Availability Matrix for Data Services 4.2

https://support.sap.com/content/dam/launchpad/en_us/pam/pam-essentials/TIP/PAM_DataServices_4_2.pdf

I can see DB2 iSeries Access (ODBC) 7.1 version supported but you are using 11.64.09.00 which might be or not supported. If you have tried Unicode and UTF8 Code page and if its still not working then it certainly has to do with the driver version and compatibility.

Could you please try using the supported version as per your SAP Data services version.

Regards
