Hello Integration experts

I am working on an Upgrade project where we have some NON SAP 3rd party systems communicating with PI through ABAP IDOC adapter. We cannot change the protocols/ the way they can communicate to PI ; So we need get the settings done to communicate through Java IDOC adapter. We have both IDOC SENDER and IDOC RECEIVER interfaces. While I am successful in getting the communication for the IDOC RECEIVER interfaces with the JAVA IDOC_AAE adapter ; the IDOC_AAE SENDER case is Not successful with many trial and error settings .

We are getting this error :

"LOCATION SAP-Gateway on host *****/****

ERROR Gateway not connected to local R/3" .

We can see the logs in the JCO monitoring that the Program gets registered in PI ; But the testing from Non-SAP system fails with this error. There are no network issues because i can send the IDOCs to the same system and we get the Program ID registration requests from the same system.

First of all is this possible to send the IDOCs NON-SAP system with IDOC_AAE adapter? I believe Yes, Please correct me if I am wrong.

If so, what is that I am missing here. Your insights are much appreciated here.

I have very duly followed these blogs :

  1. https://blogs.sap.com/2016/11/05/how-to-configure-idoc_aee-sap-to-non-sap-jco-system/
  2. https://blogs.sap.com/2016/04/07/idoc-adapter-aae-with-external-system-non-sap/
  3. https://blogs.sap.com/2014/02/17/idoc-aae-non-sap-communication/

I have checked all the SAP NOTES :

  1. 752276 – Idoc support for non-sap systems
  2. 1729203 – Support for communication with external RFC server
  3. 1717833 – RFC destinations to support external rfc servers
  4. 1877907 – Support of extern-to-extern RFC communication with JCo 3.0

Let me know if anybody can suggest something here.
