I am installing ERS on AIX 7.3 with Power HA Cluster
Node A contains the ASCS + PAS and Node B will be ERS
The issue is with the instance directory of ASCS and ERS and the mount points at failover time
Node A : ASCS = /usr/sap/<SID>/ASCS00/
Node B : ERS = /usr/sap/<SID>/ERS10/
Both are sitting on /usr/sap/<SID> in respective nodes.
When there is a failover from Node A to Node B , the mount point /usr/sap/<SID> will overlap on the ERS mount point .
How will both directories for ASCS and ERS coexist on the same node B ?
I believe that for a short while untill the ASCS reads the lock table, the ERS instance should be running on node B . But this is not possible because the ASCS filesystem mounts over the existing ERS filesystem
By default SWPM installs both instances on /usr/sap/<SID>
So what is the solution here ? I need to install ERS on a seperate Filesystem, but it defaults to /usr/sap/<SID>
Any advice
Regards
Warren
Hi Warren,
In the Cluster environment, you may have to install the ERS in both nodes in the common shared disk. kindly refer to the below SCN thread and also the latest SAP installation or system copy guide.
In the Windows Failover cluster when you install the "First Cluster Node " it is part of ASCS and ERS, I am not sure about the AIX

Hi @warrenmario_rodrigues Im a bit rusty on UX lately so if my answer doesnt fit your Q let me know and i'll wipe it
My idea is that ERS and ASCS should be on shared disks accessed through NFS mount points (or whatever exist in AIX..) as per below https://help.sap.com/doc/4b99f675d74f4990b75a8630869a0cd2/CURRENT_VERSION/en-US/loio87f6ecc9c3e44a2d...
cheers!A
