How to have different tresholds for every Date Dimension in a bullet point chart

Alexander_Blasl

Hi,

i have a measure like orders. I want to create 3 different tresholds for 0CALMONTH, 0CALWEEK and 0CALDAY in one bullet point chart. I select the time/date (month, week, day) in a dropdown and with setdimensionfilter I send the time/date selection to the chart. I want to see the 3 different tresholds for every time/date for every single selection.

Like >1000=green orders for a month, >200=green orders for a week and >40=green orders for a day.

I tried to create 3 thresholds with the same measure (orders) with a filter of 0CALMONTH, 0CALWEEK and 0CALDAY for the bullet point chart. It didnt worked.

Any ideas?

Hi Alexander,

I just played around with it a bit and have some findings but no solution (as I am also not an expert with Analytics Designer).

You can define multiple thresholds on one measure by using different dimensions in the filter. However depending on what chart type you use you need to define explicitly which threshold you will be using. This is definitely the case for the numeric chart, where you can add the specific threshold in the section "color". I am not quite sure how your filters are set up, but I am pretty sure you would have to find a way to dynamically change the selected threshold based on if you are filtering on month, week or day and I am not sure if this is currently possible;

Secondly I found a second small pitfall: When you define the threshold and add a dimension as a filter, you can either select "all" or you can select certain dimension memebers. If you did a select "all" for the threshold definition, you not only need to have the right threshold and filter selected for the numeric point chart, but you also have to add the dimension to the trellis of the chart. If you only selected a subset of dimension members, you do not need the trellis.

If you find out that there are gaps to implementing this, feel free to open an idea for a new feature here: https://influence.sap.com/sap/ino/#/campaign/884

Cheers

Anna

Hi Anna,

yes i have the same issue - when i add the filter to the bullet chart there is a problem. Is there any chance to get this fixed?

Hi Alex,

I am afraid fixing it requires an incident. I would boil your scenario down to the easiest one possible - one threshold with filter and a bullet chart and open an incident on that. Maybe it is a known issue and can be resolved quickly.

Hi Anna,

i am very sorry. I ment bullet point chart (there i have no trellis). The numeric point chart is above and there is no threshold needed. As you can see in the picture I want to have 3 different ranges for every Time Base, not 0-500-1000 for every Time Base.

Hi Alexander,

there seems to be an issue in the combination of a bullet chart and a threshold filtered on a certain dimension. For me it works fine until I add the dimension filter in the threshomd definition. Is it similar for you or do you see another issue?
