Some marks:

  • don't forget to stop all database services then SWPM/Rename software asks to stop database. to check it try to rename /oracle/SID to another and turn it back. Use unlocker if you use Windows Server to understand what processes is use this directory
  • check for %TEMP% and %TMP% location. It must not be placed in /usr/sap/SID/.../... directory because this software puts his files into this directory. And when it tried to rename the directory where it's running - you get an error.
  • check all profiles and environments variable after system rename, especially listner config. It doesn't edit this config automaticly

Hi

I am trying to Rename a system from X to Y. Also want to change the Hostname and the instance for a dual stack system

I have downloaded the latest swpm* and extracted it. I am reading the documentation for my system which is  Sap net weaver 71. PI dual stack ehp1

Guide is System Rename Guide Doc Version 1.4..2015;04-17- SAP systems based on Application system Dual stack (abap and Java) Netweaver Unix valid from 7.1 to 7.4

I am having issues with the software as the tool does not ask me for the software. It just asks me for the Source  system and Target system and then it looks for a DEFAULT .PFLL file for the target system

What am I doing wrong..

hi ,

try to provide /sapmnt/PIS in the above screen and see if it works.

Also if your on Unix Flavour, Do verify if there is link between /usr/sap/PIS/SYS/profile & /sapmnt/PIS/profile.

Incase of windows, Physical localtion and default profile should be there under /usr/sap/PIS/SYS/profile and do check the shared folders for the correct mapping.

And do you have sapstartsrv service running to rightly identify your system data.

Ram

HI Ramkrishna Thanks for that I downloaded the manual and I saw that we had to mount the target usr/sap/ and /sapmnt/TSID mount points. The system came up but no java stack  I just am confused now.. I have a centralized PI Dual stack system. When I did the rename My abap came up but it did not bring up my java stack.. when I do a jsmon. it does not even show java stopped .. When I go into sm51 .. there is no j2ee  process. I read in the manual that if you have a de-centralizes system you must do your them in order. I have a centralized system wiht a ascs and a scs and i.e SFI_DVEBMGS60_sfidevdb SFI_ASCS01_sfidevdb SFI_SCS02_sfidevdb Should I do them separately

Hi Syed

Kindly refer the SAP Note to rename the SID without system copy.

Hi Syed,

In-order to change the SID you need to do a self system refresh if you want to use existing server.

You need to either use SAPinst Export/import method or you can take a current backup of your system then restore it on server and then do the SET the DBSID name

and sap profiles accordingly.
